MEDIANA joining MEDICA 2024, Targeting Global AED Market Expansion

  • Expanding presence in European AED market with a projected annual growth rate of 10%
  • First Korean company to achieve CE MDR certification; AED operable between -20°C to 60°C, launching a fully automatic AED
  • Targeting wider customer base in domestic market, including government procurement, elder care facilities, and franchises

MEDIANA Co.,LTD, a leading Korean medical device manufacturer, announced its participation in MEDICA 2024, the world’s largest medical device exhibition, to drive global market expansion centered around its automated external defibrillators (AEDs). This announcement, made on the 11th of the month, underscores MEDIANA’s commitment to advancing its presence in Europe and other international markets.
In addition to AEDs, MEDIANA will exhibit a range of devices, including Vital Sign Monitors currently supplied to U.S. nursing homes, advanced Monitor Defibrillators tailored for emergency medical markets, and Patient Monitors, showcasing its diverse portfolio.
MEDIANA is accelerating its expansion into the European AED market, where AED demand grows over 10% annually due to the increase in cardiovascular disease and aging populations. Already present in major markets such as the UK, France, Sweden, and Italy, MEDIANA has solidified its market position, including a notable contract worth approximately $8.5 million to supply AEDs to British public schools. The company plans to further expand into new regions and sectors within Europe.
The company’s flagship AED, the A16 model, is the first in Korea to obtain CE MDR certification, ensuring compliance with stringent European medical device regulations. The A16 is designed to withstand extreme temperatures, from -20°C to 60°C, making it adaptable to various environments, including airports, train stations, stadiums, and shopping centers. This temperature resilience allows for reliable installation in both indoor and outdoor public facilities.
Moreover, the A16 features a fully automatic function, which is highly preferred by European customers. This allows the device to perform automated ECG analysis and high-voltage energy charging, delivering a prompt electric shock to the patient without requiring user intervention.
According to a recent report by Data Bridge Market Research, the European AED market reached an estimated $351.84 million in 2023, and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 9.49% from 2024 to 2031, reaching $726.67 million by 2031.
MEDIANA’s AEDs are also recognized in the domestic market, having been supplied to the 25 Seoul metropolitan boroughs and major security companies, further proving the product's efficacy and reliability. The company is expanding its domestic customer base to include government procurement, elder care facilities, and franchise locations.
MEDIANA CEO Kang Dong-won stated, “With MEDICA 2024 as a launchpad, we are set to further strengthen our entry into the European market, accelerating our global expansion goals by 2025. By integrating AI and software technology with affiliates SELVAS AI and SELVAS Healthcare, we aim to solidify our competitive edge with advanced AI-driven medical solutions.”
